Action Mesothelioma Day 2008
The British Lung Foundation and various asbestos victim support and self help groups, throughout the UK, hosted the 3rd Action Mesothelioma Day on 27th February 2008. Previous years have proved a great success in raising awareness of Mesothelioma, and this year’s events were no exception, bringing the mesothelioma debate, once again, into the public domain and putting pressure on the Government to fund vital research into the treatment and care of those suffering from this awful disease.
Additionally, the 3rd AMD saw the launch of a Health and Safety Executive campaign to raise awareness and to inform those trades and professions who continue to come into contact with asbestos. Its aim is to ensure provisions are in place to protect these workers and prevent a recurrence of this disease in another 50 years.

David Bell, a solicitor-advocate from our Glasgow office, will be showing his support, and helping to ensure that the profile of the disease is continually raised, by attending a Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma conference at the Western General Hospital, in Edinburgh, on 27th March 2008.
Raising the profile of Mesothelioma
Attendance at these AMD events is important to both our solicitors and clients who hope that, by supporting this essential awareness day, the profile of mesothelioma is raised, which in turn will improve the support and care of those individuals who are affected now, and those who will, unfortunately, be affected in the future. It is a sad fact that, despite a complete ban on asbestos use in the UK, mesothelioma is on the rise with an expected peak in 2015.
