Workers' Concern Over Health Issue

A new report has shown that employers' failure to take workplace health and well-being issues seriously impacts on workers, with most saying they would consider leaving their job over the issue.

A survey of 1,300 employees for Business in the Community showed that workplace welfare was becoming a major weapon in the battle to recruit talented staff.

Of those questioned, more than four out of five said that employers' attitudes towards health were an important factor when making a decision about a job.

"Tough market conditions mean it is more important than ever to retain staff," said Stephen Howard, chief executive of Business in the Community.

"Although many companies are already taking action on their health and well-being record, those that aren't need to take action now or risk losing staff."

The report found that only one in 10 employers provided healthy food options and advice to their staff.
