Ocean shipping cartel

In the United States, several recent class actions have been brought against parcel tanker shipping companies for conspiring to fix the prices of freight and parcel tanker services at artificially high levels.

Executives from Odfjell Seachem AS and JO Tankers BV pleaded guilty to operating as a cartel. A former director of Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group Ltd has also been charged but has not pleaded guilty and the case is ongoing.

This cartel operated internationally. We would like to hear from any company that paid freight and/or purchased ocean shipping services for the transportation of liquid chemicals and other specialty chemicals from the above shippers during August 1998 to November 2002. It is likely that you were overcharged for the service and you may have a claim for compensation. However, you will need to act quickly to stop legal time limits from defeating any potential claim.

If you believe that you or your company have been affected and would like further information, without obligation or charge, please contact us.
