David Urpeth from Irwin Mitchell said: "Road traffic accidents still take an alarming number of lives per year. Motor cyclists are particularly at risk from those who drive carelessly or dangerously.

"Drivers need to be aware of the damage that they can cause if their conduct leads to a road crash.

"Drivers need to be especially vigilant for cyclists and motorcyclists who are vulnerable road users.

"I represent many people who have been injured or killed in road traffic accidents.

"Sadly, all too often I see the tragic consequences of drivers who have failed to heed that message and their conduct has led to serious or fatal road traffic accidents."
