Lipobay (Cerivastatin)

Lipobay (cerivastatin) was prescribed in the UK for lowering cholesterol levels. It was withdrawn in the UK by the manufacturer, Bayer, on 8 August 2001, following reports of side effects of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) which can lead to kidney failure.

Bayer currently face over 11,000 claims and in the USA they have already paid $614 million to settle 1,683 cases out of court.
