HSE Launches Asbestos Awareness Campaign

The HSE have this week launched a campaign to highlight the danger of exposure to asbestos for tradesmen such as plumbers, electricians and joiners.

Industrial disease experts at law firm Irwin Mitchell are supporting the campaign and Partner Adrian Budgen, who heads up the team, believes that this campaign is a step in the right direction to letting tradesmen know they are more at risk to exposure than they may think, as well as encouraging them to find out more about what precautions they should take.

He said: "This is a majorly important campaign, which Irwin Mitchell fully supports. It is a great, great pity that this campaign wasn't run 30 years ago, as it would have prevented so many needless deaths.

"Asbestos is the biggest occupational killer of all time - there needs to be much greater public awareness. It is not yesterday's problem - it is a clear and present danger."
