A judge has ruled that the Rottweiler that attacked a nine year old girl at a New Year's Eve party in Rotherham is to be put down.

The three year old dog named Bully was seized by police after the attack which left Chloe Grayson scarred for life.

At Rotherham Magistrates' Court, Judge John Forster approved a police application for the dog to be put down following a 21 day period in which the owner can appeal against the decision.

Nicola Grayson, Chloe's mother said that the dog which left her daughter needing surgery on her face was owned by her neighbours in South Anston.

Chloe was taken to Sheffield Children's Hospital where she underwent plastic surgery.

Katrina Elsey from law firm Irwin Mitchell said: "It is important that dog owners keep their pets under control at all times. Unfortunately, injuries caused by dogs often have lasting effects both physically and mentally."
