British newlyweds die in Spanish helicopter crash

On Monday 20th December a British couple tragically died in a helicopter crash just a few hours after they were married in Spain.

The cause of the crash, which happened in the mountainous area of Istan, Malaga, is still unknown. The Pilot of the helicopter is understood to have died in the crash; however the co-pilot is believed to have survived and is being treated in a local hospital.

Jose Maria De Lorenzo of IM's International Travel Litigation Group (ITLG) comments

"The surviving co-pilot will hopefully be able to shed some light on the cause of the accident. Spain has an inquisitorial system whereby the enquiry judge of the locality where the accident occurred will be investigating the matter and gathering all the evidence. The families of the victims will be able to participate in this procedure by appointing legal representatives to protect their interests"
