British Family involved in Florida Car Accident

Four young British cousins, all under the age of 10 are recovering in a Florida hospital after being involved in a car crash which killed three of their parents on Saturday 18th December 2004.

Charles Babson, 40, of south London, his wife Dawn, 41, and Simeon Cole, 41, from Essex died in a tragic accident when their car collided with a petrol tanker near Orlando.

A spokesman from the Florida Highway Patrol commented that Mr Babson was attempting to cross the southbound highway to join northbound traffic when the people carrier they were travelling in was hit by an oncoming petrol tanker.

It appears that the driver of the petrol tanker braked and tried to avoid Mr Babson's vehicle but failed. The driver of the tanker, which hit the drivers side of the vehicle, did not suffer any injuries and will not face police charges.
