Ancure endograft AAA stent

This device was marketed as a less invasive and alternative method to open surgery for repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms (a condition where the largest artery in the body gradually swells, weakens and may eventually burst). The stent is a graft inserted into blood vessels to reinforce the damaged walls of the vessel.

The product was recalled in March 2001 following problems that included movement of the stent from its placement location, malfunction due to leakage and direct damage to the blood vessels.
