Cathryn Selby obtained a significant out of court settlement for her client, Stuart Earnshaw against his solicitors who had failed to bring proceedings against his local education authority for failing to recognise his dyslexia. As a result of these failings he was not provided with appropriate or adequate support throughout his schooling.

Stuart was diagnosed as being dyslexic and requiring specific learning support in 1991. His school however did not formally recognise this fact until some years later. This had a significant adverse impact on Stuart both socially and academically. Stuart had instructed solicitors to pursue a claim against his local education authority but they failed to bring a claim in time.

We took over the claim proceedings and were able to successfully obtain compensation for Stuart.

Stuart received a substantial compensation sum reflecting the loss of a chance to pursue lost earnings resulting from his inadequate education. The money, whilst unable to recompense for the emotional impact, has enabled him to continue to receive appropriate support and guidance.
