In June 2006 our client Rachel Nelson was arrested in Oxford during the course of a protest against the Oxford University animal testing Lab.

She was charged with 5 separate offences including 2 charges of incitement. She was acquitted of all charges a year later.

Various police officers including those of senior rank were caught on tape making various derogatory remarks against the protestors.

Civil proceedings were commenced against Thames Valley Police for false imprisonment, assault and malicious prosecution.

This resulted in an out of court settlement for £14,999 plus costs.
