Philippa suffers from Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME) and fibromyalgia, the condition is controlled with the use of regular medication. Philippa was due to go on holiday and therefore her mother arranged to collect her prescription of Amitriptyline from the pharmacy.
During the holiday Philippa began to suffer with headaches, dizziness, vomiting and hot flushes and was bed-ridden form much of the two week holiday. When Philippa returned from holiday and collected her next repeat prescription, she realised that on the previous prescription the pharmacist had wrongly given her Amlodipine instead of Amitriptyline, her GP later confirmed that this had been the cause of Philippa’s symptoms whilst on holiday.
Anna Bosley, Solicitor in our Clinical Negligence team in Leeds helped Philippa claim compensation in an out of Court settlement where she received £2,600 in damages.
