Our client was travelling on the A65 towards Whitby with friends when the car that he was travelling in hit a puddle and skidded into a metal barrier. At the time of the accident, it was raining heavily and both the driver of the vehicle and our client lost consciousness on impact.

Our client sustained two broken ribs, a broken left shoulder, a broken left collar bone, a broken left thigh bone and sustained a head injury.

He was taken to York Hospital by the emergency services, where he required emergency surgery on his left leg. He also required pins inserting into his left hip, a metal bar in his lower left leg and a metal plate into his left knee.

Following discharge from hospital, our client was dependent on crutches, and struggled to move around his home. He required help with washing, dressing, cooking and his normal daily activities. Our client returned to hospital for the removal of the metalwork in his leg some months later.

Due to the injuries sustained and subsequent treatment, our client was out of work for a year. With the help of Cathryn Godfrey in the Serious Injury team in Leeds, we helped the man to recover £30,000 in compensation for the accident.
