A man contacted Irwin Mitchell's solicitors after he suffered injuries to his right foot and knee when he was struck by a truck at work.

Our client was working at a meat factory when a meat pallet truck hit him and ran over his right foot. Our client required surgery to his right knee and needs ongoing treatment to ease the effects of his injuries. He was on crutches for several weeks and was unable to return to work for over a year following the incident.

Our client’s employers admitted liability and Claire Newstead at Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office helped him to claim £16,000 in compensation. This went some way towards covering the injuries he sustained, lost earnings, the cost of the care provided to him by his wife and the cost of future medical treatments.

Cases such as this highlight the importance of workplace design and ensuring that there is always sufficient space for vehicles and employees to operate safely.
