Irwin Mitchell have assisted the wife of an Industrial Painter to obtain compensation following his death from Mesothelioma.

The deceased was employed by Internation Paint (GB) for two months in 1995-96 when working for them as an industrial painter at Old Barking Power Station in East London.

During the course of his employment he was exposed to asbestos. He became ill in the summer of 2007, was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in August that year and died two months later of the disease.

In 2009 Irwin Mitchell were asked to help this man's widow.

Witness appeals were circulated to local press and the client's brother provided evidence as to the horrendous conditions workers endured. Unfortunately no witnesses could be found to confirm the exposure the deceased was subjected to.

Court proceedings were issues in the High Court in London and the Defendants admitted liability early in 2011. In October 2011 the widow received £197,000 in compensation for the death of her husband.
