Our client was a lady who was staying at a hotel in Scotland. She was ushered out of patio doors by employees in the hotel who turned off the patio lights. Since it was after midnight the patio was dark and there were no other lights.

The lady walked across the patio but fell over a chair which she was unable to see due to the lack of light. Our client suffered facial injuries and damage to her hearing aid and clothing.

Irwin Mitchell represented this lady and obtained an out of court settlement. Compensation of £3,145 was agreed.

Elaine Russell, Partner in Irwin Mitchell's Glasgow personal injury department said that "It is important that hotels take care of their guests. If there is a breach of care either by an employer, public body or private company it is important lessons are learned to prevent this type of accident happening in future."

The lady said "I am more than happy with the services of Irwin Mitchell."
