The Glasgow Personal Injury team successfully represented Christine Murphy, who suffered injury when she was in Sainsbury's petrol station.

Mrs Murphy went into the petrol station at Sainsbury's in Glasgow. She put petrol into her car and had been in to the petrol station to pay for her petrol.

As she turned to leave the premises she slipped on a wet floor. It had been raining heavily. The floor was tiled with ceramic tiles and there were no carpets or mats to help minimise the risk of slipping. There were also no wet floor signs warning Sainsburys' customers that the floor was wet.

Mrs Murphy sustained a serious fracture to her right shoulder. She was taken to A&E at Hairmyres Hospital where she was told she had a serious break. She was housebound for around 4 weeks and her arm was in a sling for a significant period of time. She was also signed off work for 11 weeks and had to cancel her holiday to Barcelona as she was unable to travel.

Irwin Mitchell in Scotland helped Mrs Murphy to obtain £8500 in compensation for her injuries.

Elaine Russell, PI Partner in Glasgow said "Sainsbury’s owed a duty of care to people using their petrol station and they failed in that duty. Murphy had a serious fall. Her accident was entirely unavoidable and it is extremely important that lessons are learnt from this to prevent other people being injured in this way."
