Compensation for Woman for Broken Wrist in Police Action

In January 2007, our client Mrs L was stopped on her way home on an allegation that she was using her mobile phone whilst driving.

She was arrested and taken into Rotherham Main Street police station.

At the police station custody desk, our client disputed the version of events put forward. An argument broke out which resulted in other officers coming out to the custody desk and pinning our client on to the desk with her hands behind her back.

As a result of this she suffered a broken wrist. She made a formal complaint and the allegation that excessive force was used was upheld.

An out of court settlement was agreed in respect of a claim for assault and battery with the police without having to commence court proceedings.
