Irwin Mitchell have assisted the family of a young man to recover compensation following his death in a road traffic collision.
The Deceased was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by someone who was not insured to drive the car. The car was owned by the driver's girlfriend but he was not covered by her insurance company to drive the car. Our client died as a result of a blunt head trauma suffered in the collision.
The insurance company in question reserved their position on liability until the Police had concluded their investigations into the accident.
The driver was prosecuted, found guilty and given a four year custodial sentence.
At this time the insurance company agreed to stand as the RTA insurer and the family of the Deceased passenger received almost £5,000 in compensation.
