A woman has received £14,000 compensation after slipping on a highly polished dancefloor in August 2007.

The woman's left leg went from beneath her and her legs slipped apart after dancing on a dancefloor which had been highly polished, although she did not actually fall to the floor. The woman was able to continue dancing to a limited extent but slept badly that night with pain in her leg.

The woman suffered from strained muscles in her left leg along with pain in her thigh and groin radiating towards the left knee. The symptoms worsened; it became difficult for the woman to walk and she developed severe arthritis with an element of avascular necrosis of the left hip resulting in a hip replacement operation.

The accident is likely to have accelerated the arthritis by approximately three to four years.
