The Irwin Mitchell Military Claim’s Team acted for an injured soldier who was awarded £100,000 in compensation after he sustained non freeze injuries to both of his feet back in 2002.

Our Military client was serving in Bosnia when he was required to undertake a covert surveillance operation in sub-zero weather conditions. He was not given any cold weather training prior to undertaking the surveillance, nor was he provided with appropriate cold weather kit such as fur lined boots, or full body suits.

Upon returning back to camp he attended upon his Medical Officer complaining of foot pain.  Over the following days he continued to complain of foot pain and was advised to take aspirin and ibuprofen.  His feet were aching and throbbing continuously.

He was provided with cold weather over boots and despite continuing to take medication for his pain he was expected to carryon with his full military duties and was further sent on operation deployment.

This compensation was awarded for Military injury sustained during his covert operations and for the ongoing pain and suffering that is caused by the subsequent condition of his feet.
