Train crash at level crossing
On 6th November a First Great Western train travelling from Paddington to Plymouth ploughed into a car on the automatic crossing in a village near Reading. The rail crash killed 7 people and injured 150 more.
The accident was caused by the driver of a car who appears to have committed suicide by leaving his vehicle on the train line. The driver was not insured. After discussions between The Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), Network Rail and the rail operator First Group, the MIB have confirmed that they will be meeting in full all the personal injury claims submitted by victims of the Berkshire level crossing rail crash.
