Specialist workplace injury lawyers Irwin Mitchell have assisted a man from Barnsley to obtain compensation following an accident at work involving a forklift truck.

Our client was riding on a forklift truck which was being driven by one of his colleagues. The large canvas belt on the back of the forklift truck became caught in the wheel and around his right arm, pulling him from the truck. The truck then ran over his arm.

He had immediate pain in his arm and was taken to Barnsley Hospital.

At hospital he was admitted with a compound wound to his right arm. He had four operations in Barnsley Hospital and a skin graft operation at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.

Our client had to undergo six months of rehabilitation at Barnsley Hospital. He has been left with a weak right arm with no power within his hand.

Due to his injuries our client was unable to work in his job as a fabrication worker for 14 months. He has now returned to work but is carrying out light duties.

Irwin Mitchell assisted our client to obtain £20,000 in compensation for his injuries and expenses.
